Fuel Your Mindset (FYM) is a workshop series that equips students with practical skills and inspiration to grow as leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs. Each session focuses on themes like confidence, branding, career readiness, and the entrepreneurial mindset to help students stand out.
This Fall 2026, MLCIC is offering three workshops as part of the series.
Jeff Villalobos, Senior Attorney at Vela Wood, led the "Mining the Legal Bedrock" workshop, focusing on early-stage legal foundations for founders. He provided a clear overview of core legal considerations, helping entrepreneurs make informed decisions on entity selection, such as LLCs versus corporations. Participants learned to identify essential early-stage documents and develop proactive strategies to protect their brand and intellectual property while positioning their businesses for future growth, partnerships, and funding.
The team from Square Communications hosted an interactive session exploring the shift from outbound outreach to digital attraction. They guided students and aspiring entrepreneurs on the vital role of intentional branding, content, and social media in building visibility and trust. Attendees gained practical insights into creating a strong online presence that organically attracts and engages customers in today's evolving business landscape.
Louie Rodriguez, Vice Provost for Professional Development, Engagement, and Strategic Initiatives at 成人头条, concluded the series with a workshop focused on building emotional intelligence for personal, academic, and professional success. He introduced emotional intelligence as an actionable skill set, covering core components like self-awareness, empathy, and self-regulation. Participants learned how these skills impact decision-making and communication, leaving with strategies to navigate challenges and work more effectively in classrooms, workplaces, and team environments.
Gracie Cain Viramontes of EMAJJ led an impactful workshop titled "Speak with Confidence," equipping students with essential communication tools. She shared techniques to overcome nerves, organize thoughts, and deliver messages with clarity. Attendees gained valuable insights into engaging their audience and building a strong presence, whether pitching an idea or networking at events.
Louie Rodriguez from the 成人头条 Office of the Provost led the "Executive Presence" session, sharing what executive presence truly means and why it matters. He provided students with actionable verbal and nonverbal communication techniques to carry themselves with confidence, clarity, and credibility in interviews, presentations, and the workplace.
Ruben Alvarez of Marketing Hunters guided attendees through "Building Your Personal Brand," teaching them how to identify their strengths, values, and unique voice. He shared practical strategies for building a strong online and in-person presence, emphasizing how to stay authentic while standing out to create new opportunities.
Miguel Anaya from Tech Frontier concluded the series with his forward-thinking workshop, "Stand Out with AI." He demonstrated how to strategically apply AI tools to craft standout résumés, prepare for interviews, and boost everyday productivity. Students learned creative ways to harness AI for career planning and entrepreneurship, amplifying their professional impact.
